Written in 1933 by lyricist
Li Lin-chiu and composer Teng Yu-hsien, Longing for the Spring Breeze is
generally acknowledged as Taiwan's
unofficial national anthem. It represents memories of childhood, of love lost
and of a local identity, all expressed in Holo, a dialect spoken by about 70
percent of Taiwan's
inhabitants.
